Preston Hollow Remodel on Glendora Avenue

  • This project started with the homeowner’s desire to replace their existing range and grew to incorporate the whole kitchen and downstairs living area adjacent to it. Their goals for the project were to create a more open kitchen to the downstairs office/media room and upgrade all of the finishes and appliances.

The design of the space focused on creating a balanced and open layout while maintaining visual separation between the spaces. We framed a large new doorway between the kitchen and media room and installed new pocket doors that could be closed when the homeowners were entertaining, or when their children were using the media room.

  • The homeowners wanted to update the finishes in their formal living room and create a way to close the space off from the rest of the house.

We removed the original fireplace mantle, hearth, and firebrick. We installed new light buff fire brick in a herringbone pattern and installed a new custom cast stone mantle and hearth flush with the wood flooring. New recessed lighting was installed throughout, along with 3 wall sconces flanking new artwork. We added a pair of large French doors at the entry to the space.

  • The homeowner’s main goal for this project was to upgrade all the appliances in their kitchen and bar. They also wanted to open the kitchen to the office/media room. The original home had a wet bar but it was small and only had a small sink and ice maker.

We rearranged the kitchen and built a wall separating the bar area, creating a hallway from the back door/mudroom to the living area. The reconfiguration of the space allowed for us to expand the bar to include an undercounter wine refrigerator and new ice maker as well as more storage. As part of the design a custom mosaic tile backsplash was installed from countertop to ceiling and is highlighted by the decorative glass shelves. All appliances were fitted with custom cabinet panels and installed inset into the bar to create a seamless look.

  • This home’s style was not conducive to the client’s entertainment needs, they needed more space in their kitchen and living room areas, including a larger and more accessible bathroom.

The original laundry, bedroom and bath areas were completely gutted. The space was expanded by about 200 square feet by pushing the walls out, and the original interior wall separating that space from the kitchen was opened up to allow for a much larger kitchen and adjacent living room. The remaining space would fit the new bathroom they needed, as well as a mudroom and laundry room.

  • This area was completed as part of the downstairs kitchen and media room renovation. The original floorplan had the laundry room separated from the kitchen and breakfast area by a hallway and lacked functional storage and overall use for the family. The family desired a place to fold laundry as well as a space to drop their backpacks when coming in from the driveway.

We removed the separate entry door and dividing wall which gave us some additional space to work with and made the mudroom function more apparent due to the connection of the space to the exterior door to the driveway. By stacking the washer/dryer at one end and removing the existing laundry sink, we were able to condense the laundry function to one side and add a full-height mudroom bench and lockers for the required backpack space. Between the two a bank of lower cabinets and countertop space was included for folding clothes. All cabinetry was raised to the ceiling as an additional storage solution.

  • This project was the 3rd project we did for this client. They had two identical bathrooms located back to back that were decorated for their son’s when they were young and they wanted to update the bathroom finishes for a more timeless look. They also requested to remove the bathtubs and replace them with showers.
